The Two Sillies

Lilly is very keen on being silly.  And silly she is.  She really likes to flip upside down on her bean bag chair.  And then she tells us that Adlai jumps on her.  Did he?  Or is she pulling him down?  Ignore all the extra skin, we are just happy she puts on clothes that covers appropriate parts.

I have to catch them in the act.

Adlai is still not always super stable on his feet.  We find him like this often:

What's funny is that he still doesn't really roll over from back to front so we can usually put him down like this and find him there at a later time.  A bit turtle like.

And Lilly with her little piece of hair that she chews stuck to her face.

She wonders how we know that she is still doing it.  We told her she needs her hair cut but she wants to grow it really long.  We'll see how this goes since she really hates to have her hair brushed or put it up.

My Helper

Adlai got a walking toy from a little girl who has a sister in Lilly's class.  Did that make sense?  Anyway, the cart has little blocks in it.  The blocks are currently spread out throughout the house and the car.  Since Adlai is still trying to focus on walking and can't control the fact that the cart likes to speed off without him, I had to weight it down.

Why yes!  It is weighted down with clean, wet laundry.  He helped me take it from the washer to the indoor clothes racks.  Saved me a few trips!

Have Some Sugar un-Birthday Boy!

We didn't get to celebrate Adlai's birthday on his birthday because of the timing.  Too much going on.  Not enough hours in the day.  But we got there and Adlai got his cupcake.

But first he had to eat his dinner:

Noodles and veggies are on the top of the must eat now list.

And then one cupcake for the little boy:

Notice he is fairly clean, his tray and floor, not so much.

What's more is those cupcakes weren't crumbly at all.  He destroyed that cupcake!

Would You Like Snot With That?

Snotty noses have taken over our lives.  Along with snot comes the tissues.

Someone has a love hate relationship with tissues.

He hates them on his nose, but ripping them to shreds . . .

love.

Happy Birthday, Dear Adlai!

One year!  Oh my goodness!  I've loved it all.  Ok, maybe not getting up in the middle of the night but am I really going to complain?  Some people get very little sleep.  We got lots of sleep with lots of interruptions.  I can't complain.

At 1 year
We have a walker.

Adlai loves peas and fruit and pasta.

He loves his sister, most days.

Adlai loves music.

He babbles, sings, anything to make himself heard.

He is loved.

Happy Birthday, Seth!

So, Seth isn't a fan of birthdays.  I did call a few of his friends so he could chat with them but that's about as good as I could do.  So, instead of a picture of him, I've given everyone an awesome view from our front door.  And that is the current car, a fully loaded Mondeo.  You only need the key to be in the vicinity in order to open a locked door or start the car.  It's pretty cool.

Getting Ready

Having back to back birthdays can be a little chaotic. So I did what I could and hoped for the best.

I made cookies for a school event plus cupcakes and a one tier cake for the boys and their birthdays.

And yes, those are Halloween cupcake holders. I'm going to go with the idea that no one will notice.

And while I baked, Adlai got into as much trouble as he possibly could.

Lilly and her Amazing Eyes

While we were eating dinner Lilly spotted a rodent.

OUTSIDE!!

How dare you think it was inside. Although at this rate that wouldn't have surprised me either.

His mom must have called him home for dinner.

While Seth thought it was a mouse, I noted the size (it would have to be a super-sized mouse) and length of tail. I was thinking more rat. But the face of a mouse?

Large Crowds, Little Patience

We spent our holiday Monday with the intention of going to the Moomba Festival in the city.

The last time we went there were just the right amount of people. This time was ridiculous. We watched the parade. Well, we put Lilly on our shoulders and she watched the parade.

And then we tried to walk through the rides area and were just overwhelmed with people. So we left. Maybe if we had tried one of the other areas it would have been better. But we didn't bother to try.

Seth wanted me to get a picture of this ride. We wonder if they paid for the copyright.

It's called Sky Walker and it has Star Wars characters painted across it. Rockin'!

Werribee Gorge for Real

We went on a family hike. We thought we would try to do a longer hike but by the time we got to the park we only had a couple of hours.

The hike that we went on was a bit hilly. Lots of up and down, a bit tiring but nice. We found a little bench that was surrounded by weeds. We had a snack here and turned to go back to the car.

We were heading for a lookout over the gorge but at the bench we didn't quite see where the path went. So this view will have to do:

I got to carry the boy on the way back out. Makes me feel pretty strong. (But really it is a good things he's on the small side.)

Seth got bit by something, maybe an ant. There were massive ones that gave me the creeps. These made enormous mounds in the middle of the path.

PS If you look at the post for February 18, I had mislabeled it and gave the wrong information. It is now written correctly!

Everyone Should Have a Sign

This sign:

tells me I need to move if someone who is missing a limb, is crooked, or is a woman who just swallowed a goat gets on the bus. (Ignore the words, they mean nothing.) Adlai and his stroller would have to get off the bus. He's watching for the goat woman now:

Some days Seth takes Lilly to school and then I go pick her up. When we do this I have to walk to our train station, get on a bus (not a train), get off at Ford, walk to the car, and then drive to Coburg. If it is just me, it's a quick process. With Adlai, the walking bits take a little longer. But it all works out because Adlai doesn't have to get in the car in the morning and can get a good nap.

These are the days that I do some grocery shopping. But Lilly gets tired so she begs for a ride. I don't let her ride unless there is begging involved.

Sydney Road Street Festival

The Sydney Road Street Festival is quite an interesting affair. If we had been more prepared we would have had some great pictures of the colorful people who pop out of the woodwork to come to this thing.

Anyhow, Sydney Road goes from the city to well, Sydney. Although now there is a highway out past our house. It's a major road and once we get into Coburg, we avoid it at all costs.

For the festival the road is blocked off and there are stalls set up along the road. There were about six stages set up and we heard music ranging from rap to children's to rock.

We walked quite a bit and then let Lilly do one 'ride'. She chose the blow-up slide.

I was worried she would get to the top and not come down. But she did it. She got to go several times and really enjoyed it.

Yes, this is the Titanic!

I want to know who thought of taking a huge disaster with lots of deaths and tragedy and turning it into a children's party slide.

And Adlai and Seth waiting patiently for the girl to have some fun:

Exercise Machine

There's a circle path close to our Leisure Centre (pool/workout building). The council have installed workout machines along the path. I should try to take advantage of them but in the meantime, Lilly does. She'll ride her scooter to swimming and go way ahead so that she can build up her muscles.
