Happy Birthday, Lilly!

Saturday we had a very big day with our little girl turning a big 3!!! We started the morning talking to Uncle J and the twins. We then headed to a play park for a bbq. We had several friends join us. It was a good time and the weather was perfect. In the evening we spent time opening presents and we had family movie night with Wall-E.

Weeks go by . . .

Two weekends ago we went to the Streets of Melbourne. We saw a couple of shows put on by different performers. In a word - terrible!

The first show was put on by a married couple from NYC (at least that was what they said). I can't even describe what they did. They were supposed to be funny but a lot of the jokes were rather crude. They spent time juggling, balancing and spitting bananas back and forth.

The second turned out to be a giant game. The actors recruited lots of children to participate. The actors didn't really speak, they held up cards with visual clues and the kids were supposed to figure out what they meant. If the kids couldn't figure them out one of the actors blew a whistle and they kicked the kids out of the show. Needless to say there were tears and no one really understood what was going on.

The following Tuesday and Wednesday turned out to be in the 90s. Lilly and I escaped the heat Wednesday by going to the Melbourne Museum. We saw a show called the Walking Whale Circus. It was a cute show that talked a little about evolution. There were some acrobatic skills invloved. It was fun and Lilly really enjoyed it. When it would get quiet while the performers would mid trick, she would shriek, point and shout 'look at that, mommy!' I couldn't take pictures inside.

On the way out we stopped at a play park. Since it was so hot we had the place practically to ourselves.

This past Sunday, the 18th, we went to the Tianjin Dancing Kite Festival. When we left the house there wasn't even the slightest breeze so we were a little worried, but the wind picked up as the afternoon went on. We were able to make our own kite out of straws and tissue paper. There was a big field where everyone was trying their new kites out. Ours did some funky little dance for a bit. There was a tiny tear in the tissue paper and I think this caused the problem.

Now it's in the 100s and it is too hot to move. I should have taken Lilly somewhere for the day as she was out of comission for the last couple of days but I'm grumpy from the heat and Lilly waking up at all hours of the night!

Have a good one!

Explanation of Albums

First off, this is Seth and it has come to my attention that some people aren't realizing that we are posting individual pictures as well as photo albums. I won't name names, but just leave it at they aren't OSU grads.

Click on each to see the difference. In the albums, you can view the pictures on a google map which is pretty cool.

Here is a single photo...

Here are albums...

Fairy Lilly has spoken . . .

Today Lilly and I braved the chilly/windy day and headed to a park called Fitzroy Gardens. They had a Fairy Festival! It wasn't really a festival but they did have some fairies. Three of these things put on a little 45 minute program with a little acting, minimal singing and some acrobatic stunts. It was amusing and most importantly, Lilly enjoyed herself.

Me: Was this a good surprise?

Lilly: It was ok.

Me: Oh, I thought it would be a really good surprise.

Lilly: It would have been better if the one fairy didn't scare me when he fell asleep.

Apparently sleeping characters don't rank very well on Lilly's list of well liked characters. Note taken.

Have a good one!

And so, 2009 begins . . .

Yeah, blame Seth for not having anything from New Years. It is completely his fault. He wants to put something up, just hasn't gotten to it. Hehe!!

We had made plans to go camping the weekend after the New Year, but apparently so did everyone else. So we skipped it. Friday Seth went with Lilly to story time. We did some shopping in the markets of Coburg and headed home for the rest of the day.

Saturday we took a trip to Healsville Sanctuary. We do have pictures and video of this so hopefully we'll get it up soon. I'd wait until I had the pictures on the blog but who knows when I'll get around to that. This place had a ton of birds and the usual koalas and kangaroos. Lilly was disappointed there were no giraffes.

Sunday was lazy but we did make it to Target. And that was it.

Now Seth is back to work and I'm still doin' what I do. We walked to the library today and the Post. I tried to pick up a present for someone today but I never found what I was looking for.

As for all the Holiday cards, well . . . we'll just see who gets what . . . cause the 'wonderful' lady at the post told me the wrong price for the stamps I needed and I wasn't paying attention. I just told her how many I needed. I put all the stamps on and mailed them out (and I have to lick every single one, they don't have the adhesive ones!!). It occurred to me later that it wasn't enough. I cried. I haven't received any back so I'm hopefully. I know a couple people told me they got them. We'll see!

I'll work on the pictures later!

Have a good one!
